Yulia Tymoshenko
Yulia Tymoshenko is a prominent Ukrainian politician, born in Dnipro, Ukraine. Before politics, she was a successful businesswoman in the energy sector, earning the nickname “Gas Princess.” She entered politics in 1996, becoming a key figure during the 2004 Orange Revolution, which led to the annulment of a fraudulent election.
Tymoshenko served as Ukraine’s Prime Minister twice: from 2005 to 2005 and from 2007 to 2010, becoming the first female to hold the position. In 2011, she was convicted on charges related to a gas deal with Russia, but many considered the trial politically motivated. She was released in 2014 following the Euromaidan protests.
Tymoshenko ran for president in 2010, 2014, and 2019 but never won. Her political career has been marked by her advocacy for Ukraine’s European integration and national sovereignty.
